Planning Questions
Are you working by yourself or in a team?
I am working with a partner
What materials will you need for your project?
the robot, our ipads and the app for it.
What is your plan to create in this project?
My plan is to create a race
What unique qualities will your project have?
it will make sounds and noises and it will have cool lights
we did our planning questions and we started thinking for our idea.
this is a picture of our first code and we made it run into things then say "Uh Oh"
this is another one of the codes we made from yesterday
today we made the two robots race each other and this is the code.
this is the code for the race we made our robot and two other ones do
this is the track we used to make it.
we changed the track a little and then we did our race today and this is the video of the race. our robot is the one in the middle track and we won.
this is the code from the reace we did on day 5
we finished our other race and we are working on another code for an obstacle course
we tried with the new obstical course and we couldn't get it to code to work.
this is the code we used on day 7 when the obstical course failed.
now, we are finishing our reflections,
we did a race.
Using Blockly, the Dashe's and the Ipads, I created a racetrack because I wanted to know how fast the robot could be able to go and I also wanted to see how fast it would be able to do the turns around the track. We also wanted to see how it would be and how it would react with using a different robot then the two dashe's. The Syphere won, because its a ball and it can catch a lot more traction.
During this process, I learned how to code the robot to speak, and to get your voice to be used for talking, you could also make animal noises and spin in circles. We had to learn to make the robots do the right amount of turning and to make sure that they don't turn to much or to little.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to knowledge constructor because I used different codes and steps to complete my idea. It also ties to Knowledge Constructor because we had our ideas made up on what we wanted to do from the beginning and how to do it and why we wanted to.
A challenge I overcame on this project was not being able to get the robots to stay in a certain spot and to get them to come back or to turn a certain amount. I was able to do it by trying pieces of the code out one by one and go step by step through the track . We also had to mark where the pencils were so that each time that it would be close to the last track because we didn't want to make a new code each time.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the way that the track changed angles and how far that the track went, The reason why I would change it is because I feel like it should've went farther and not have so many turns on the same area, because when coding it, it was harder to do because you had to get it a certain angle and if you did to much then it would work and then you would have to delete the code and try it again.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the Robotics Engineering CTE program at Hastings High School, because we programmed the robot to do something, like making it go in a circle and to do twists and turns and to make noises.
My project connects to careers in ICT professionals because they deal with developing technology skills and learning how ti do and code new things. They also develops technical concepts and adapt to new technologys
