Planning Questions
Are you working by yourself or in a team?
By myself
What materials will you need for your project?
I will need the Adafruit Circut Playground Website and the Circut Playground.
What is your plan to create in this project?
my plan is to create clap lights
What unique qualities will your project have?
It will have a bright light, you will have to clap your hands loudly for the bright light to turn on and it will turn off after a couple seconds
We did our planning questions and list of ten and started on the website
I made it make a sound when you shake it and it is a "pew pew" sound and when you point to with it in your hand it makes a noise
I made one where you guess a color and then you click a button and it will flash a color and if your right you keep going
I made a sound machine where it mesures the sound and you have to talk loud for it to get it to the red
today I made a siren that sounds like a police car and the lights flash red and blue
I made a button clicker where if you get the button right It makes a correct sound but if you get it wrong it makes a incorrect sound.
This is the picture of the code for my final project I made clap lights
Using The ipad, Circut Playground and a coding computer I created Clap Lights because I thought that it was cool that you could program it to turn on and off with the loud sound. My favorite part of it was that I made it and after I made it it was cool to see that it had actually worked.
During this process, I learned How to code using Adafruit and using the Circut Playround. At first the Circut Playground looked very confusing and it looked like it was going to be a hard project. This project was very fun and learning how to create a bunch of flashing lights, flashlights, and clap Lights was a very fun and cool process to go through. It also taught me that when a code doesn't work then maybe you just need to redo it or add something more to it.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Empowered Learner because whenever something went wrong like a code didn't work or the buttons wouldn't do what I set them to I would look back at it and make some improvements.
A challenge I overcame on this project was trying to get the lights to turn off faster after the light is on. I also wanted it to clap or yell or do a loud sound of some sort to turn it off instead of waiting patiently for it to turn off. I was able to do it by Setting the light to turn off faster and I had set the light to be brighter so even if you did use it for a room, you can make it stay on.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change The colors and the sound you did to turn it on The reason why I would change it is because I wanted to make it be more unique but I couldn't quite figure out how to get it to a different sound. I would change the lights because I feel like the white is basic and the different color changing would be cool because it would remind me kind of like LED lights.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the Computer Programming CTE program at Hastings High School.
My project connects to careers in Instructional Designer because Instructional Designers create engaging and effective learning experiences. They also apply the best practice from designing and education. They also take part in online courses, and help design newer things.
