Using a Makey Makey, I created a four key keyboard because I thought it was a good Idea. One other reason I created this is because I wanted to be creative and be different than the other people that did the Makey Makey. the last reason I created this is because I wanted to have a mouse and a partial keyboard.
During this process, I learned Makey Makeys have more functions than just the arrows. Another thing I learned is that it is hard to cable manage so many cables. One of the last things I learned is playing with an actual keyboard is a lot easier than the the makey makey.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Computational Thinker because it had wiring and we connected it to a computer. This means that we were able to wire it and make it work.
A challenge I overcame on this project was having an original idea. I was able to do it by finding out there was a lot more then just six sockets. One other challenge I overcame is I didn't know how to wire the ones that were the little pins. I was able to do it by asking Mr. Renner and a little bit of trouble shooting.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change how many keys there were on the key board. The reason why I would change it is because it looked kind of bare. One more thing I would change is it wouldn't be made out of card board. The reason I would change this is because it did not look the best and it could look better.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the CTE program Computer Programming at Hastings High School. My project connects to careers in wiring and electricians. My project connects to careers in wiring because we had to use the cable to connect the makey makey to the aluminum on the card board. It also connects to careers in electricians because we were wiring and making circuits from the makey makey.
This is the wiring of the finished project as you can see it has all the wires connected from the Makey Makey to the keyboard .
This is the finished keyboard. The wires are a bit of a mess but the board has the 4 main buttons and then the mouse on the side has the other 2 as mouse 1 and 2.
This is the prototype. The prototype has the 4 arrows and the button in the top right is the mouse 1 button it just hovered over the start button.
