• I used coding and robots to make a robot that can go up a ramp and drop into a hole. I did it because I wanted to make a mini golf course with the robot. I like golf—it’s fun and cool to turn it into a robot game!

• During this process, I learned how to use the robots and how to code them to do what I want. At first, it was kind of confusing, but once I figured it out, it was actually really fun. I learned how to make the robot move in different directions, go up ramps, and even stop at the right spot. It felt cool to type in some code and then watch the robot actually do it. I didn’t think I’d enjoy coding, but now I think it’s awesome because you can control a robot like it’s your own little machine. 

• The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Computational Thinker because I was able to think of the code and control the robot myself and with my team.

• A challenge I overcame on this project was not being able to think of a code to do. I was able to do it by finding some videos on codes and thinking of a better one.

• Given a chance to do this again, I would change giving myself not enough time. The reason why I would change it is because if I gave myself more time I would've been able to get more codes done.

• Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing.  My project connects to the Engineering and Design CTE program at Hastings High School.  

• My project connects to careers in mechanical engineering because I programed the robot to do what I want.
