Using Adafruit Circuit Playground, I created songs because I wanted to hear some of my favorite tunes. It was exciting to see how I could program the board to play different melodies and customize the sound. The process also taught me more about coding and how electronics can bring music to life.
During this process, I learned more on how coding worked. I discovered how different commands and functions could control the sounds and behavior of the Circuit Playground. This experience also helped me better understand the connection between hardware and software in creating interactive projects.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Empowered Learner because I decided which codes to make, taking initiative to learn and apply programming concepts independently.
A challenge I overcame on this project was getting the right tempo. I was able to do it by searching up a tutorial. This not only helped me solve the issue, but also taught me the importance of utilizing online resources to enhance my learning.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the size of the codes. The reason why I would change it is because some were so big it was hard to play them without it overheating. By optimizing the code size, I could improve performance and ensure smoother playback without technical issues.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, and Marketing. My project connects to the Computer Programming CTE program at Hastings High School. It allowed me to apply programming skills in a real-world project, deepening my understanding of coding and its practical applications.
My project connects to careers in software development because they code games. This experience gave me insight into how game developers use programming to create interactive experiences and the importance of coding in game design. Additionally, it showed me how problem-solving and creativity are essential skills in the software development industry.
