By myself
What materials will you need for your project?
My micro bit, ipad, and computer
What is your plan to create in this project?
A lot of fun games and code
What unique qualities will your project have?
I could fun and challenging games
I messed around with my microbit and made it display my name.
I made a chat with my friend and we were able message each other across the room.
I made a love meter that tells you how much you love each other.
I made a dice so every time I shake it shows a random number 1-6.
I made a coin flipper and it was random. i added a timer before as a countdown for suspense.
I tried a couple of programs, but the first one that worked was a stopwatch.
I created Flappy Bird on my mircobit. With help from classmates and tutorials got the code done quickly.
I tried making music but unfortunately ran out of time.
I reflected on what worked and didn't.
I used my computer, iPad, and microbit to display my name on the screen. I chose this project because it seemed like a simple way to begin. It was a fun way to learn how to use different devices together. This project helped me get more comfortable with coding and technology.
During this process, I learned the basics of coding. I was able to understand how simple commands could control the behavior of the microbit. This experience helped me realize that coding is like solving a puzzle, where every step matters to make things work. It was exciting to see my code come to life and gave me a sense of accomplishment.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Knowledge Constructor because I came up with my own ideas and used various resources to build my understanding. This standard emphasizes the importance of critical thinking and the ability to gather and evaluate information, which is exactly what I did to develop my project from scratch.
A challenge I overcame on this project was making big codes for games. I was able to do it by watching videos and getting help from friends. It took a lot of trial and error, but through persistence, I was able to break down the complex codes into smaller, manageable parts. This experience taught me how to troubleshoot and problem-solve, which will be valuable for future projects.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change what I did because all my friends did music, but I didn't have enough time for it. The reason why I would change it is because it looked fun. I think collaborating with them on a music project would have been a great opportunity to explore a new creative skill.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, and Marketing. My project connects to the Computer Programming CTE program at Hastings High School. By working on coding and software development, I was able to gain hands-on experience that aligns with the skills taught in this program.
My project connects to careers in Video Game programming because I was also making games with code. This experience gave me insight into how video game developers use coding to bring their ideas to life. It also helped me develop problem-solving skills and creativity, which are essential in the gaming industry.
