I reflected on what worked and didn't.
Using my computer, I created a VR football world because I thought it would be cool to be down on the field with players. The immersive experience allows me to feel like I'm part of the action, surrounded by the energy and intensity of the game.
During this process, I learned how VR worlds are designed. I gained an understanding of how to build interactive environments and how to optimize them for an immersive experience. It also taught me the importance of realism in creating engaging virtual spaces.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Empowered Learner because I made my own football world with my own ideas. It also connects to Innovative Designer, as I used creativity and problem-solving to bring my vision to life.
A challenge I overcame on this project was making everything level. I was able to do it by grouping them together, then leveling it all at once. This method helped me save time and ensured that all the elements aligned perfectly. It also taught me the importance of organization when working on complex designs.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change my world to a hockey rink. The reason why I would change it is because I like hockey more. I think it would be exciting to create the fast-paced environment of a hockey game in virtual reality.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, and Marketing. My project connects to the Digital Multimedia CTE program at Hastings High School because it involves creating and designing immersive virtual environments, a key aspect of digital media production. Through this project, I was able to apply the skills learned in the Digital Multimedia program, such as design, creativity, and technical problem-solving, to bring my vision to life.
My project connects to careers in VR engineering because they make VR games. Like VR engineers, I focused on designing and building an immersive virtual world, requiring technical skills and creativity. This experience gave me insight into how VR engineers combine programming, design, and innovation to create engaging virtual environments.
