Using my iPad, computer, and merge cube, I created a space-themed story because out of all my ideas I thought the space one was the best. I wanted to explore the possibilities of combining technology with creativity to bring the story to life. The immersive experience of the Merge Cube allowed me to visualize the story’s setting in 3D, making it feel more interactive and engaging.
During this process, I learned how augmented reality works. I discovered how digital elements can be overlaid onto the real world through devices, enhancing the way stories and ideas can be experienced. It was fascinating to see how this technology brings a new level of interaction and depth to creative projects.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Empowered Learner because I came up with my own ideas. It also relates to Innovative Designer, as I used new technology to create a unique, interactive experience. Additionally, by researching and implementing augmented reality, I expanded my knowledge and took ownership of my learning process.
A challenge I overcame on this project was getting the blocks perfectly. I was able to do it by using patience. It took time to adjust and position everything correctly, but through trial and error, I learned how to make small adjustments for better results. This experience taught me the value of persistence and attention to detail in the creative process.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change it so there is more detail. The reason why I would change it is because the story looks boring. Adding more intricate visuals and deeper storyline elements would make it more engaging and help capture the audience's attention better.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, and Marketing. My project connects to the Digital Multimedia CTE program at Hastings High School. By incorporating technology and creative design, I developed a multimedia experience that aligns with the skills taught in this program, such as digital storytelling and interactive media.
My project connects to the career of Digital Media Specialist because it involves using digital tools to create interactive and engaging content. It also required skills in storytelling, design, and technology, all of which are essential in the field of digital media production.
