My project was Star Wars Bloxels. I did 4 levels. Here are two of them. The pictures on the left and right are the blocks used to make the levels. Above is me beating the 2 levels.
Here is the 3rd one. The blocks are on the right, they help to make the coding for the level and the video of me beating the level is on the left.
The reason I took this picture of what it looks like in the game instead of the blocks is because someone ruined the blocks so I had to do this. The video of me beating this level is on the right.
Using the app called Bloxels on the iPad, I created 4 levels instead of one because doing one level was too easy so I had to come up with new levels. If I only did one level, then Mr. Renner would give it back and I would have to add more. The reason I did more is because I finished one level in under 30 minutes, so I knew I had to come up with different and unique levels.
During this process, I learned more about the blocks used to create the levels, like the red blocks are hazardous and if you step on them you lose a heart. The reason I said this is because last year all I did was land, enemies, coins, and water. This year I added two things, hazardous blocks and helpful blocks called, well, helpful blocks.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Innovative Designer because I came up with 4 different and unique levels, in their own way. My first level was all about using all of the enemies blocks and coin blocks. My second one was about how high can the characters jump. My third level was about using more land blocks. And the last level was about how the blocks that gives you health.
A challenge I overcame on this project was creating different and unique levels. I was able to do it by learning what all the blocks do. Another challenge I overcame was The enemies falling off the map. Surprising the enemies hated their lives so I built walls on both sides of them to stop them jumping off the map.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the blocks I used. The reason why I would change it is because I didn't use enough blocks. I only used the land blocks, enemy blocks, coin blocks, water blocks, hazardous blocks, and the helpful blocks. I could of used the story blocks, blocks that are an obstacle but you can easily destroy. Blocks that you need a key for, etc.
