JLAB, or the Junior Leadership and Academic Bowl, is a competitive SAT-style event that tests cadets in a bunch of subjects—like reading comprehension, grammar, math, science, current events, financial literacy, and even the college application process. It doesn’t just test how smart you are—it challenges how well you can think under pressure and work as a team. Being part of JLAB helps build strong study habits and makes you better at standardized testing. It also shows leadership and commitment, since everyone on the team has to put in the time, study hard, and push each other to get better—which is exactly what we’ve been doing all year. Last year, our team made it all the way to nationals in Washington, D.C., and brought home first place in the Air Force division and third place in the Joint Service Championship. This year, we’re heading back to D.C. to defend our title and go for first overall in the Joint Service Championship. JLAB is a great team to join to let your academic strength shine, while also develop life skills such as teamwork and leadership.
