To install Clipgrab
From the HSTUDENT network go to Finder > Applications > Managed Software Center > Software Tab > click install under Clipgrab
You must be on-campus to install the app
Issue: YouTube doesn't provide a way to download its videos.
Solution: ClipGrab is a free app (MacOS) installed on your Harding Laptop or that you can download for your personal Mac (https://clipgrab.org/)
Why would you want to download YouTube or Vimeo videos?
Download and upload to Google Drive to share with your students.
Download and edit in iMovie for customized use.
Download so that you don't have to worry about the video disappearing or being dependent on an Internet connection.
Download a video as an audio file if you just want the sound and not the video. Great way to find and download music.
Select the format. "Original" for video and MP3 for audio only.
Select the Quality. Higher number is higher quality and larger file size.
Click "Grab this clip!" to start the download.
Track progress here. Once downloaded you can double click here to open the file.
Now you have opened the downloaded video file in QuickTime player. You can play or save from here.
Click the "Search" tab
Enter your search terms. This will search YouTube. (Note: you can also copy and paste the URL from YouTube or Vimeo here. Search does not work for Vimeo.)
Click the "Downloads" tab
Select the format. "Original" for video and MP3 for audio only.
Select the Quality. Higher number is higher quality and larger file size.
Click "Grab this clip!" to start the download.
Track progress here. Once downloaded you can double click here to open the file.
Now you have opened the downloaded video file in QuickTime player. You can play or save from here.
