I have been teaching 7-12 English since 2008 at Hancock High School.

I was born in St. Paul and grew up in Roseville. My family moved to Osakis before my sophomore year and I graduated from Osakis High School in 2000. I attended The College of Saint Benedict and graduated from there in 2004 with a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Bachelor of Arts in Theater. I went to Bemidji State University and graduated from there with a Bachelor of Science in English and my Teaching Degree.

I have been the Theater Director since 2008, I am the current Class of 2029 Adviser, and Leader for the 2012, 2015, 2018, 2022, and 2026 DC/NY Trips. We are currently fundraising for the DC/NY Trip of 2026.

I help every Wednesday after school in Hancock's Catch Up Club where any 4-12th grade student can come in to my room and receive academic help.

I have helped to implement a school wide recycling program at Hancock Public School. We have paper collections in every classroom, the office, and lounge. We have collections in halls for aluminum and plastic. We even got a special large bin outside for recycling cardboard as well as some smaller bins for plastic, aluminum, and tin.

I have requested and received grants from the Hancock Foundation for a projector to the English classroom in the fall of 2009, curtains, lights, and rigging for the stage in 2009, microphones to the stage in 2010, and an iPad to the English classroom in the Fall of 2013. The foundation has also helped bring Hancock students to some theatrical shows in Morris and Chanhassen and even helped to bring a professional theater to Hancock to perform Macbeth in 2016. The Hancock Foundation also helped to support Holocaust survivor Fred Amram's visit to Hancock School in 2019.

In March of 2011, I was presented with a $2,500.00 grant from the Toyota "Drive for Education" committee live on TV during the MSHSL Boys Hockey Tournament. This money went towards updating the theater lighting technology.

Mission For The Class
My mission for all my English classes is to create an environment where students feel more confident with Language Arts and Communications. I want students to have a well-rounded education in the area of Language Arts and communications and will encourage confidence in Language Arts abilities and progression. I want to introduce and then expand with students in regards to the many different aspects of Literature, Grammar, Writing, Reading, Spelling and Speaking. Improving on these skills so students are able to communicate effectively as future members of society is a goal. As part of my mission, I also want to address concerns and work with parents to help their children be as successful as possible in English class and in life. I want my students to be motivated and know they are supported and valued.
