Don't forget to turn your clocks back on November 2nd! Daylight Savings Time Ends!
Trojan Families,
3 Short Weeks until Thanksgiving. Keep encouraging your students to stay focused and work hard. If you missed last night's Trunk or Treat, you missed so much fun and community for our Future Trojans. It was a tremendous event that will become an annual tradition here at NHMS. Please never hesitate to reach out to me or any member of our team if you have any questions.
Feed the Light!

Attendance Matters-Everyday Counts!
April is dedicated to our students and staff and is always there to help! April greets everyone with a smile, which is especially appreciated when people don't feel well. She makes a positive impact on NHMS every single day!
FFA will be building fishing lures on November 11th after school until 5pm. Stop by the AG room for a flyer!
Join us in the Annual NHMS Food Drive! Bring canned food to donate to the Georgia Mountain Foodbank between now and November 7th. We're having a homeroom competition. First place will receive a pizza party lunch. Second and Third place will receive and ice cream party. Let's can hunger together!
If you would like to honor a veteran in our Veterans Day presentation, please send a picture to Mrs. Howard at jenny.howard@hallco.org.
Include Veteran's name, branch of military, wars fought (if any), years of experience, and relation to student at NHMS.
If you sent a picture last year, you do not have to resend.
Student participation is a big part of recognizing our Veterans. To that end, we are running an essay contest this year, open to all students in the building.
Can anyone submit a picture of their Veteran to be included in the slideshow?
Yes! Any NHMS staff member or current student can submit a picture. See the flyer below!
Are the Veterans invited?
Yes! We will have our Veterans Day Assembly for the whole school, and then a light reception will be held in the Band Room. Our Veterans and their families are welcome to attend. Our school guests should have identification with them, as per usual events that are open to the public.
These will be available AFTER the picture make-up day in October.
If you have not picked this up, please do this as soon as possible. You can contact the NHMS Front Office.
On the last week of each month, there will be a rolling cart in the lobby for students to pick up any lost items. Any items left at the end of the week will be donated.
Don't miss out! Buy your NHMS yearbook now!
Hello everyone, I’m Daniel Martinez. I am so happy to find out that I was one of the students accepted for the REACH program! I enjoy drawing, art, and helping others! I also love spending time with my family and playing games. At school, I love my friends and science. I am very excited to join REACH because this gives me more time to study and do more thig without worrying. This also helps my parents, so they do not have to pay for my college. My favorite quote is “ there will always be a bad chapter in your life, but like all chapters, it always has an ending.” I think this helps me get through life and will help others. Just remember someone out there loves and cares for you.
Hey, my name is Jose De Lira. I am in 8th grade. I am excited to join the REACH program! Some things I like to do outside of school are playing games and playing soccer with my brothers. I also am a follower of Jesus and pray to him all the time. I am excited to join the REACH program and hope to get into a good college. My favorite quote “ friends are like strings a web, with them you can make something big.”
Danielle Hall is an eighth grade science teacher at NHMS and our September Teacher of the Month. Mrs. Hall recently transitioned as a 6th grade ELA teacher to her position in Science. According to her peers, “Danielle is an amazing teacher and wonderful asset to our 8th grade team. She is doing a wonderful job in her classroom and has stepped up to help brainstorm and create outstanding content for our STEAM project in an irreplaceable way. We’re all so happy she’s joined our team! She is always willing to work with students as well as teachers to help assist them.” Thank you Mrs. Hall!
Jamie Buffington is our data entry clerk for the school, and is our September staff of the month. According to her peers, “Jamie has worked extremely hard over the first month of school making sure every student was scheduled, whether it be providing a schedule, changing a schedule or enrolling new students. Jamie does so many things for our school in outside of her role as our data entry specialist/registrar. From scheduling to data reports, to FTE, to absences and excuses, she keeps our school in compliance and running smoothly.” Thank you for all you do!

Why do we need coaches? Adults bring the program to life for the students by sharing real life experiences. Our volunteers provide those "aha" moments as they help students discover the value of themselves, their education, and their future possibilities! If you have held a job or paid a bill, you will be a valuable volunteer. Check out our Volunteer Video to see a preview of the day.
*Parking, Coffee, Day-of Training, and Lunch provided to all volunteers!
Questions about the day? Contact Carla Marquez at cmarquez@georgia.ja.org
