Tips for Families:

Read a Daily Paper With Your Teen

Reading a newspaper every day in print or online—even an article or two—is one of the most constructive things your teen can do to build school skills but to really sharpen thinking skills, encourage your teen to read the editorial page.

Take this challenge with your teen. Every day for a week, each of you read the editorials in a daily newspaper. This is usually only about 15 minutes of reading or less.

Then, pick a time each day to discuss what you read. Do you agree or disagree with the author? If your teen could tell the author one thing, what would it be? Did the author fail to comment on something that your teen thinks is important?

Reading something and then analyzing it is the basis of higher-level thinking. And thinking is what takes learning beyond memorizing.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: 

Middle School Athletics: Hall County School District Middle School Sporting Events will have an admission price of $5 per ticket. There will be a flat fee of $15 for a family of three or more.

Car Rider Procedures:

In the morning, we will only have 1 line. This will allow our staff to enter the parking lot. Please do not pass the car in line in front of you as students may be exiting on the driver's side. We want all students to arrive safely.  In the afternoon, we will have 2 lines to get traffic off Fran Mar as soon as possible. We will merge in a zipper format in the afternoon at the indicated merge point. Thank you!

Insurance:

The HCSD offers student insurance through the company, Student Assurance Services. This insurance is supplemental to a family’s primary provider and will assist with added costs in certain situations. For more details, please refer to…

ATTENDANCE COUNTS :  Please ensure that your student is present at school each and every day possible from the beginning of the school day until the last bell.  Schedule appointments after school or on the weekends if possible.

Consejos para Familias:

Lean un Periódico Diario Con Su Adolescente.

Leer un periódico todos los días, ya sea impreso o en línea, aunque solo sea un artículo o dos, es una de las actividades más constructivas que tu adolescente puede realizar para desarrollar sus habilidades académicas. Pero para potenciar realmente su capacidad de razonamiento, anímale a leer la sección de opinión.

Acepten este desafío con su adolescente. Durante una semana, lean juntos los editoriales de un periódico diario. Esto suele tomar solo unos 15 minutos o menos.

Luego, elijan un momento cada día para hablar sobre lo que leyeron. ¿Están de acuerdo o en desacuerdo con el autor? Si su adolescente pudiera decirle algo al autor, ¿qué sería? ¿El autor omitió comentar algo que su adolescente considera importante?

Leer algo y luego analizarlo es la base del pensamiento de alto nivel. Y pensar es lo que lleva el aprendizaje más allá de la simple memorización.

INFORMACIÓN IMPORTANTE:

Atletismo en Escuelas Intermedias: Los Eventos Deportivos de Escuelas Intermedias del Distrito Escolar del Condado de Hall tendrán un precio de entrada de $5 por boleto. Habrá una tarifa fija de $15 para una familia de tres o más.

Procedimientos para Pasajeros por Carro:

Por la mañana, solo tendremos 1 línea. Esto permitirá que nuestro personal ingrese al estacionamiento. Por favor, no pase el automóvil en línea frente a usted ya que los estudiantes pueden estar saliendo del lado del conductor. Queremos que todos los estudiantes lleguen seguros. Por la tarde dispondremos de 2 líneas para sacar el tráfico de Fran Mar lo antes posible. Vamos a confluir en formato cremallera por la tarde en el punto de fusión indicado. ¡Gracias!
