August 5-9, 2024
We Welcome you to the first installment of the Bobcat Bulletin. This is our weekly newsletter for all things Sardis. We will have important information regarding timely topics, curriculum updates and give you a glimpse of what goes on in the school during the school day. If you do not want your child's photo to be included in the bulletin, Facebook, newspaper or the school website, you need to be sure you do NOT sign the Media release portion on the Elementary Student Release Page.
If you have not created a Parent Portal account please follow the directions below to do so. ALL parents should have a parent portal account. Parent Portal houses your child's school information including emergency form and medical forms, report cards, grade information, registration forms and important documents related to your child specifically. Here is the link to create a Parent Portal Account and to sign the documents that are required for your child for school year 24.25: https://www.hallco.org/web/ic-portal-users/
You know that old saying, "If You Know You Know?" Well, all we need to say is afternoon car rider line and YOU KNOW.! Those of you who tackled the afternoon car rider line with us on Friday, the first day of school, YOU KNOW! Parents did a FANTASTIC job lining up for car rider. Thank you for helping us work through the first day kinks of afternoon car rider. From here on out, the line will become more and more efficient and much less crowded. We have included a graphic that we have used in the past to help navigate through the car rider line. Even with the graphic, I think the only way to totally understand is to experience it for yourself. One thing that might help is through a raffle we will hold and by purchasing a GOLDEN RAFFLE TICKET! Raffle tickets are $3 each, 6 for $15 or 12 for $30. We accept CASH for Golden Raffle Tickets. Anyone who purchases a raffle ticket will be eligible to win a Golden Ticket. There will be 2 Golden Ticket winners and the winners get to move to the front of the car rider line in the morning AND in the afternoon!!! We will be selling tickets throughout the school day in the front office with Ms. Melody and we will also sell them during car rider each afternoon. We will draw the winners on Facebook Live on the evening of the PTO Back to School Dance, Friday, August 16. Get your tickets NOW!!!
Having Lunch With Your Child
We would love for you to have lunch with your child. Many parents look forward to enjoying lunch with their elementary age child(ren). We would like to ask for some time to teach children the procedures and routines that are necessary for the hallways and cafeteria. We are asking parents to wait to come to school for lunch until after the Labor Day Holiday. Beginning Tuesday, September 3, 2024, we invite you to begin joining your student for lunch. There are a couple of guidelines we ask you to follow if you decide to join for lunch. They are as follows:
Outside food is not permitted.
Adults only are allowed to join children for lunch. (please no younger siblings)
Guest and student only, sorry no classmates, are to eat together in the Bistro area.
This year Sardis is fortunate to have a Spanish Immersion Pre-K and a 9th District Opportunity Pre-K. The students in Spanish Immersion, Ms. Ana and Ms. Laura's class, follow our school hours of operation pretty closely in terms of start times and dismissal. Students in 9th District Opportunity Pre-K. Ms. O's class, follow a little different schedule. 9th district students arrival time is 7:45 and dismissal is 2:30. These pre-k students arrive and dismiss from the lower parking lot, where buses load and unload whereas students in Spanish Immersion arrive and dismiss from the Sardis car rider drop off and pick up. Students in Spanish Immersion will need a Sardis car rider tag to pick up in afternoon car rider. If you need a car rider tag, please see Ms. Melody in the front office.
