Please review all coins with your children at home:
Penny, Nickel, Dime and Quarter
Children need to know the value of the Penny, Nickel, Dime and Quarter and to be able to identify all the coins by the end of the year. Students will also use these coins to make coin combinations to pay for items.
I have attached coin poems below to help your child remember the coins.
Penny, penny,
Easily spent,
Copper brown
And worth one cent!
Whose fine face is on the penny?
On the penny, on the penny,
Whose fine face is on the penny?
Abraham Lincoln’s
Nickel, Nickel,
Thick and fat,
You’re worth five cents
I know that!
Whose fine face is on the nickel?
On the nickel, on the nickel
Whose fine face is on the nickel?
Thomas Jefferson’s
Dime, dime,
Little and thin,
I remember
You’re worth ten!
Whose fine face is on the dime?
On the dime, on the dime,
Whose fine face is on the dime?
Franklin Roosevelt’s
Quarter, quarter,
Big and bold,
You’re worth twenty-five
I’m told!
Whose fine face is on the quarter?
On the quarter, on the quarter,
Whose fine face is on the quarter?
George Washington’s
