As school begins and homework is assigned, kids return to fall sports or activities that haven’t been in session since last year. The pep rally on September 5th brought these activities back together.
The pep rally welcomed Hackettstown’s choir group to sing the National Anthem as the event began. Then, the varsity boys and girls soccer teams, field hockey, football, volleyball, unified soccer, cross country, cheerleading, color guard, and marching band were introduced. Seniors, captains, and coaches were highlighted throughout the introductions as activity members presented themselves. To find more events regarding sporting events, check social media such as Instagram and Facebook or search https://arbiterlive.com/Teams?entityId=9254 to find more information and game schedules. The website https://highschoolsports.nj.com/school/hackettstown-hackettstown also has detailed sports information and displays statistics for each team by game and player.
Throughout the pep rally, the tug of war between each grade occurred periodically. First, the freshman quickly lost to the juniors. Afterwards, the seniors dominated the sophomore class. The juniors and seniors matchup required more effort from each team, but eventually resulted in a dominating senior win. The senior and administrative team battled for the first place spot, with the senior class finally becoming victorious. Seniors Reilly Fragale, Joe Kraley, Sarah Armstrong, Troy Strelec, Matt Tyburczy, Sarina Pangallo, Gavin Lopez, Sophia Niemirow, Tyler Jenkins, Abbey Seiter, and Erika Koster composed the tug of war champion team.
For many students, the most exciting part of the Fall Pep Rally is the pie eating contest. The contest consists of one student per grade level and one administrator to eat as much pie as they can without using their hands. After years of hard work, Hunter Scafati outlasted Mr. Simmons, Mia Del Valle, Reece Tufford, and Brooke Crowder to become the pie-eating contest king!
Hackettstown’s pep rally was successful overall, and provided lots of fun for attending students. Best of luck to all clubs, sports, and other activities for the rest of the season!
