Hispanic Heritage Month is an important celebration of Hispanic culture, Hispanic contributions to the United States, and the importance of diversity. This month-long celebration was implemented in 1988 by Ronald Reagan. It originated as a week-long celebration, but was extended to properly appreciate the aspects of Hispanic culture that make our nation diverse. It was also implemented to celebrate the growing Hispanic population in America.
Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated in many predominantly Hispanic communities in the U.S. This past month, it was celebrated with concerts, parades, festivals, and many other activities. Multiple Hispanic countries also have their independence days during this month. This results in even larger celebrations full of Hispanic pride. In conclusion, it is important to recognize the diversity of our country by embracing and learning about other cultures.
