The Hackettstown St. Patrick’s Day Parade was hosted on Sunday, March 9th, 2025. The parade is one of Hackettstown’s largest events, with presence from many of the town’s businesses.
The parade consisted of two groups belonging to the high school: the boys’ lacrosse team and the marching band. Additionally, there were dancers, musketeers, bagpipe players, and floats showing Irish pride. Even the town hospital had an all-screen float for the parade. As usual, the Hackettstown PD and Fire Department made appearances for the celebration as well.
Businesses were also open for the town’s pub crawl and different foods for attendees to buy. Czig Meister and Man Skirt saw large crowds outside of their buildings with visitors from in and outside of town. Many of the small restaurants in town were also open, displaying much of Hackettstown’s large food culture.
The parade itself had a large attendance, rivaling attendance from the prior New Year’s celebration. The streets were packed with attendees of all ages and even across species, as the parade was pet friendly. For small children or those who did not want to be in a loud parade, there was also a sensory area with activities to fill time without dealing with extreme noises or crowds.
The Hackettstown St. Patrick’s Day Parade was an amazing showing of the town’s culture, diversity, and identity. The town’s appreciation for the tradition was in full display and made the occasion a remarkable time.
