The Learning Commons is Officially Open!

Welcome to HACC! The Learning Commons is your one-stop shop for your academic and learning support needs. The Learning Commons consists of four main areas:

  1. Tutoring

  2. Testing

  3. Technology user support

  4. Library

Tutoring is a vital resource for academic success. Whether you need extra support or just want that extra edge, HACC tutors’ non-directive and non-evaluative methods can help you reach your full potential. Students can also submit their essays to HOWL, the HACC Online Writing Lab, via the form on our website or by emailing HOWL@hacc.edu for feedback from a writing tutor. In addition, we have tutors available who can tutor their subjects in a language other than English. For tutor schedules and more information, please visit: https://libguides.hacc.edu/learningcommons/tutoring. Our new appointment-making system, TutorTrac is also coming soon!

Testing is the chance to prove that you know what you know. We’re currently offering limited makeup exams, CLEP, TEAS, and placement tests. Students who require accommodations for tests should work with their professor and Student Access Services before attempting to schedule a test through our office. For more information, please visit https://libguides.hacc.edu/learningcommons/testing

User support, or tech support, is here for all your technology woes. Having trouble with your myHACC portal or HAWKmail? Can’t login to Zoom? Wondering how to activate your Office365 account? User support has you covered. You can e-mail us any time at supportcenter@hacc.edu or call 717-870-2570. For more resources, please visit https://libguides.hacc.edu/learningcommons/techsupport/home.

The library is here for all your research needs. Library Public Services specialists and student workers are the public face of the library and are most often the first point of contact. Specialists are responsible for helping the college community use our spaces and access resources available to them. Our primary mission is to provide our patrons with the best possible library experience.

The HACC Faculty Librarians also welcome you to the Fall 2020 Semester!

Not sure where to get started? Just Ask Us to chat with a librarian 24/7 or schedule a Research Appointment. We look forward to learning how we can support you!

The Learning Commons also runs the Technology Loan Access program, where students enrolled in at least 6 credit hours can borrow various kinds of technology such as laptops or webcams. For more information about this program, please visit https://libguides.hacc.edu/pcloan/about

The Learning Commons is so excited to serve you this semester. We can’t wait to see you!

Banner One College Project Update

The One College Banner project is in full force with several components being deployed over the next several weeks.

  • Work is progressing on finalizing the new Finance Approval Queues to reflect the new organization while still working in the old chart of accounts. Completion is targeted for the end of September. The planning and preparation to design the new approval queues will lay the foundation for the final stage of this project to associate the new approval queues with the new chart of accounts in July 2021.

  • The first stage of deploying the new Academic School structure in the Banner course catalog and schedule will be implemented by late October. All changes will be effective beginning with Fall 2021 credit classes and 2021-2022 Workforce classes. The project team has been carefully planning and testing the deployment of each component in Banner in coordination with key dates on the academic calendar. Detailed information will be shared with colleagues in Academic Affairs and Student Affairs who often support class data for multiple terms.

  • The Offices of Finance and Human Resources are working jointly with employees in Enterprise Services to analyze and configure HR data for the One College structure. Testing will begin in October and extend through June 2021.

Please contact Cindy Gavazzi (ccgavazz@hacc.edu) with any questions or submit an inquiry using the Enterprise Services Support Request.
