Office of Human Resources Launches New HACC Organization Charts

Greetings, Colleagues! The Office of Human Resources is excited to introduce the new HACC organization charts! We are using a new platform, Pingboard.

How do I access the new organization charts?

There is a link to the chart on myHACC under the Human Resources Tab> Your HR Team and Information > All Collegewide Organizational Chart.

How do I navigate the organization chart?

  • To navigate the organization chart, use the “filter by” or the “search for name or title” tools located in the top left corner of the screen.

  • The numbered drop-down boxes in the bottom right of a position indicate there are more levels of the organization chart below that position. Click the number to display those levels, and click on the number again to hide those levels.

  • You may also click directly on the menu located on the left side of the screen to open any specific division, department, unit, or subunit.

Can I save the organization chart for my department in a PDF?

To save a copy of the organization chart, use the snipping tool or SnagIt to capture the screen and save as a PDF. Use the menu on the left-hand side, as shown in the figure above, to filter the org chart to the area you want to capture and save.

  1. Snipping Tool

  • Open the snipping tool on your computer. If you do not have the app on your desktop, you may find it by typing “snipping tool” in to the search function at the bottom left of your desktop.

  • Click “new”

  • Highlight the area you want to save

  • File > Save As

  1. SnagIt

  • Open the SnagIt app on your computer. If you do not have the app on your desktop, you may find it by typing “SnagIt” in to the search function at the bottom left of your desktop.

  • Click the red “capture” button. This will highlight your screen to take the snapshot.

  • Click in the highlighted area; this will prompt SnagIt to save the photo.

  • Go to File > Save As

Note that both of these options save your file as a JPG or PNG. To save as a PDF, open the document and go to File > Print. Choose Adobe PDF as your printer to save the organizational chart as a PDF.

The HACC organizational chart is updated on a weekly basis by the Office of Human Resources. If there are any questions, please contact askhr@hacc.edu.

Benefits Open Enrollment

The annual open enrollment season is almost upon us! It’s time to start thinking about your benefit selections for the 2021 plan year. This year’s open enrollment period will begin at the end of October. The specific dates will be widely published once finalized.

In order to assist with making informed decisions regarding your benefits and healthcare coverages, we have some helpful tools available to you this year, such as our new interactive HACC Benefits Guidebook. This online guidebook is easy to navigate and describes the highlights of HACC’s benefit program in non-technical language, along with providing contact information for all the insurance carriers.

Additionally, we have added exciting new functionality into the bSwift benefits management system such as Ask Emma – an optional, interactive assistant that tailors plan recommendations to your individual situation based on a brief series of questions. You will have an opportunity to use this helpful tool when completing your open enrollment.

Finally, we will soon be releasing access to Video Benefits Guy, which is a full suite of short, informative videos that outline how the different benefits and coverage plans work, so you can be an informed healthcare consumer. These videos are on demand and can be accessed at any time.

You can access the HACC Benefits Guidebook and the bSwift system via the Human Resources tab on myHACC, under the Total Rewards section. The link to Video Benefits Guy will also be accessible from the Guidebook and on the myHACC page in the very near future.

For support on any issues dealing with coverage, claims handling or other concerns about your current benefits, you can contact the Benefits Support Team, a service provided by HACC’s benefits consultant, NFP. They can be reached at 1-877-607-2372 or HACCBenefits@nfp.com at any time. You can also reach your HACC benefits team via email at benefits@hacc.edu.

Expect to see more information via email in the coming weeks regarding the dates for open enrollment, live and recorded Zoom sessions with the insurance carriers, and a virtual benefits fair! Stay tuned!

Office of Human Resources/Organization Development

“Human interaction is critical for learning, but this interaction does not necessarily have to take place face-to-face” (cdn.education.ne.gov.).

The name of our unit, Faculty and Staff Development Institute, has changed after the reorganization of the College to the Department of Organization Development (DOD). The services we offer derive from the definition of Organization Development, according to Beckhard (1969): All of our interventions will be:

  • planned and followed up with an audit to establish where you are

  • organization-wide, with individuals, teams, departments, and functional units

  • the process will be approved and managed from the top leadership with input from the bottom

  • with this approach, we hope to achieve greater ownership and participation

  • to increase effectiveness and the overall culture of the unit and College at large, and

  • use behavioral science knowledge processes.

Second, due to the College working remotely, we have shifted all of our instructor-led/face-to-face professional development programs online, using Zoom. A maximum of 20/25 participants will be required for professional development offerings. Small group’s benefits will enable facilitators to see all participants remotely on various online devices from a single screen. Other features allow the facilitators to zoom in or call on a specific participant/s to share ideas and best practices and offer personalized assistance. There are also features for participants to help them communicate, such as public and private chats and emoticons.

Third, we want to encourage you to use our HACC/Cornerstone Learning Management System (LMS) with more than 80 standalone learning and development courses and all the compliance training for all employees. We are currently working towards expanding the content with blended professional development events. You will see the upcoming titles Boot Camp for newly appointed supervisors and individual professional development available for all employees, and a series on Mental Health webinars for all of us working remotely.

Fourth, all the professional development events aligned with the 2019-2022 Strategic Plan, Subgoal 2, Objectives 1 and 2, and the 2020 - 2023 DOD Needs Assessment, focusing on establishing a culture of Inclusivity and Diversity Collegewide.

Finally, we are so fortunate to have so many in-house experts volunteering to facilitate and are aware of our remote working environment and will encourage participants to:

  • actively participate (not just vocally, but also with tools like thumbs up, thumbs down, etc.)

  • feel comfortable to stop the facilitator whenever they have a question or a problem

  • ask questions; use the chat, wave at the camera, etc.

  • create a personal bond among participants to make it easier for everyone to discuss, reinforce, master, and execute best practices

  • keep cameras unmute (if possible)

  • ensure devices are fully charged or plugged in at the start of a sessions

  • close out any unnecessary applications, browser windows, and turn off any unnecessary devices that may interfere with concentration

  • set a dedicated learning spot that's comfortable and well lit

  • consider using headphones during the learning to help with hearing and focus

  • make sure you are dressed appropriately and are aware of the camera, and

  • set your phones to airplane mode or remove it from the space to prevent distractions.

Our focus is on accepting that change has happened and what we have to do is to establish consistency and, most importantly, collaboration across the College, which is an intentional outcome of the reorganization to a One College Model and how we will move forward:

A brief description of our comprehensive organization development services besides all the other interventions are as follows:

On your invitation we would like to take you through our Change Adaptation: Coaching Through Change: Where we will analyze the current stage of your unit, to establish where you are currently and where you hope to be one, two, three, or five years from now with a diagnostic audit. Your request will be accommodated depending on the availability of both your functional unit and our availability.

Summing up, we hope we can be of service and assistance to you to establish where you are as a unit and where you would like to be. Also, see what we are currently offering and what is coming soon.
