She recently had a book chapter entitled "Using Big Problems to Explore Diversity and Global Issues Online" published in the Society for the Teaching of Psychology's ebook "High Impact Educational Practices: A Review of Best Practices with Illustrative Examples." High Impact Practices (HIPs) consist of 11 specific categories of teaching practices that research has shown increase retention rates and student engagement. Though the book utilizes examples from psychology courses, the ideas can be a valuable for professors across the curriculum. Her chapter applies the HIP of "Diversity and Global Education" specifically within an online course (most of the book is specific to face-to-face examples). Her chapter explores "ways to inject diversity into instructor created lessons, the selection of external resources including videos and simulations, and student assignments." The book is free to access and download and the link is: http://teachpsych.org/ebooks/highimpacted
