Andrea Quilici and Félicia Zhang gave us the assignment (in groups) to use animals as the source of inspiration for innovation. Before this they showed us examples e.g. how a velcro was inspired from a burdock.
There was a group which used the sloth and his algae as an inspiration for an algae outfit. Another group designed a wine storage by copying beaver lodges. Some of the students came up with a remote sensing technology, having the platypus in mind. Bats and their echolocation were helpful with designing a device for blindsighted people to help them detect obstacles in their everyday lives. The last group’s idol was the water strider that aided in the innovation of a new way to traverse water bodies.
