Experience and history :
St Michael’s Mount is a small tidal island in Cornwall, England. It is famous for its castle, beautiful gardens, and the stone causeway that connects the island to the mainland during low tide. The island has a long history, starting as a monastery in the 12th century and later becoming a private residence for the St Aubyn family.
Before the trip, I didn’t know much about St Michael’s Mount and wasn’t really sure what to expect. But in the end, I was pleasantly surprised by how nice it was.
When we arrived in the morning, we first walked on the beach and over the stones to get to the island. The sea air was fresh, and the view of the castle on top of the island was beautiful. The little town nearby, called Marazion, also looked very nice with its small streets and old houses.
After that, we walked up the hill to reach the castle. The walk wasn’t too hard, even though it looked a bit steep at the beginning. On the way up, we saw a stone shaped like a heart, which was a lovely detail. Once we got into the castle, we saw old rooms, paintings, and furniture. The view from the top was amazing — we could see the gardens and the sea all around us. The gardens are full of exotic plants because of the warm Cornwall climate.
After visiting the castle, we had some free time. Some people bought souvenirs, while others explored the town a bit more. I got to eat some fish and chips, which were really good. We didn’t stay all day, but we had enough time to enjoy the place and relax a bit.
What I liked:
The fresh air and nice views. The interesting walk to the castle and the heart-shaped stone. Tasty fish and chips. The peaceful atmosphere.
What I didn’t like:
The visit inside the castle was a bit short. Souvenirs were quite expensive. We didn’t have much time to explore the town.
