History :
Plymouth is a city in the south of England, located in the county of Devon. It is one of the most important port cities in British history. In the Middle Ages, it was a major trading hub. In 1588, the English fleet sailed from Plymouth to fight the Spanish Armada. One of the most famous events occurred in 1620, when the ship Mayflower departed from Plymouth, carrying the first settlers to America. During World War II, the city was heavily bombed because of its naval base. Today, Plymouth is home to the Royal Navy and has its own university. It also features many historical sites and museums.
Due to the fact that we weren’t able to explore Plymouth closely, we experienced it mostly through our host families. We can't judge the city.
