Our courses are year-long courses, making it difficult, if not impossible, to make class changes midway through the year. Please carefully select the courses you need to take and be prepared to remain in those courses for the entire school year.
Final requests for changes to a student’s schedule must be made by the established deadline. Any changes or adjustments requested after that time will only be considered as a matter of necessity.
Please be aware: This is a very busy time for the Counseling Department. We appreciate your patience and understanding in advance.
We understand that sometimes schedules need to be adjusted. However, schedule changes can only be made for the following reasons:
You have a missing class period or gap in your schedule.
You were placed in the wrong course level—for example, you should be in an AP or CCAP course but were placed in a regular course, or vice versa.
You are a senior and are missing a required class needed for graduation or A-G college eligibility.
🚫 Please note: Students cannot request to switch from one teacher to another when it is the same course.
Students enrolled in a CTE Pathway course are expected to remain in and complete their pathway courses. If a student wishes to request dropping a CTE Pathway course, they must complete the CTE Pathway Course Drop Request Form before a schedule change will be considered.
The form requires the student to:
Meet with the CTE pathway teacher and obtain their signature.
Discuss the request with a parent/guardian and obtain their signature.
Meet with the CTE Counselor for final review and approval.
Submitting a CTE Pathway Course Drop Request does not guarantee that the course will be dropped or that a schedule change will be approved. Schedule changes will depend on graduation requirements, pathway completion, course availability, class capacity, and the student’s overall academic plan.
If you believe your schedule meets one of the approved reasons above, please contact your counselor for assistance.
