StuCo planned a Kindness Week for February 24-28. Student can dress down in theme each day if they do the act of kindness! We are so excited for this fun week of encouraging students and staff to be kind to one another.

In 7th grade science student have just finished learning about cells and DNA so we are ready to move on to our much anticipated unit on ecosystems. We will start this unit creating and analyzing food webs and then move onto animal adaptations. While learning about animal adaptations we will get up close and personal with adaptations of a sea star through a dissections. Stay tuned!
8th Grade ELA is practicing lots of different skills that will prepare us for Spring NWEA, MAP, and beyond! In Mr. Robinson's class, students are developing short performances where they choose and express a thematic statement to their peers. In Ms. Marlow's class, students are mastering poetry and figurative language. Our students impress us with how much they're learning and growing every day!
Girls soccer is here, we started conditioning in the beginning of February for girls interested in trying out and it was a success. Coach Vanhook and I are excited for tryouts which start Monday Feb. 24th, we cant wait to start the season.
Candy Grams have been delivered and they were a huge success. Thank you to those who bought a Candy Gram to send to their Valentine, friend, or teacher! STEM Club hopes everyone enjoyed their treat! The money raised will be a huge help in paying for the after school club's field trip. Now STEM Club is getting back to some engineering practices with looking at bridges this Monday.
Ms. Newman went into all 6th and 7th Grade Social Studies classes for Career Prep lessons this month. Thanks Ms. Dobbins and Mr. Acosta for offering your class time! 6th Grade students took a multiple intelligences survey and found out which kind of smart they are! They also made goals for their future career and determined what skills they will need. 7th Grade students took a career cluster inventory and researched a few different careers. Please ask students their career interest! We are ready for our annual Career Day and more career exploration on March 11!
The Girls on the Run spring season kicks off on Monday, March 2nd. Ms. Nielsen and Mrs. Mais are so excited to start practices with the six amazing students who are part of the club this season! We will practice on Mondays from 3:45 to 5:00 and will run a 5K on Saturday, May 16th. Girls on the Run is so much fun!
8th Grade Computer Applications has been working through their "Career" unit the past few months! Students picked a career they were interested in, studied this career, created a resume, and participated in a job interview for this career! 100% of all 8th graders were hired!! Mrs. Anderson is INCREDIBLY proud of all of her 8th graders for being such hard-working professionals who showed how smart and bright they really are! Now 8th grade gets to start their "Life" unit where they will be learning and practicing budgeting, buying a car, paying rent/mortgage, and living on their own! Stay tuned on how life turns out for the 8th graders!
Art club has been preparing for the art show by making giant paintings! The art show will be March 30th in the gym from 4:30-6:30
