Last week, 6th grade Social Studies began their last unit of the year: The Middle Ages! The Middle Ages is such a fun and unique unit for the kids because it's a period of time that bridges the ancient world and the modern world. It sets up the power of the Catholic Church, establishes modern countries such as Britain and France, and the world sees it's biggest pandemic during this time period: The Black Death. I'm particularly looking forward to comparing the impact of the Black Death with COVID-19 with our students. I would like to shoutout two students who have been particularly on top of their work these last few weeks and they are Jenifer Sarmiento and Ariyana Hill. Thanks for the hard work!

Friday, March 24th Art class had a visiting artist, Anthony Oropeza! Anthony is a Latino artist from Kansas City who creates bilingual comic books and sports art. The students loved a demo and question and answer session from him on Zoom!
