Lesson Expectations

Students to have logged onto Scratch with their Scratch Username and Password
Students to have navigated and understood the Scratch interface
Students to have learned and understood at least two coding vocabulary words
All students to have used one of the Scratch techniques to create a Google Doodle
Most students to have used two of the Scratch techniques to create a Google Doodle
Some students to have used 3 or 4 of the Scratch techniques to create a Google Doodle

What is a Doodle?

"A Google Doodle is a special, temporary alteration of the logo onGoogle's homepages that commemorates holidays, events, achievements, and people."

The Pilot and The Navigator

For this lesson you will work in pairs. One of you will start by being the pilot and the other will start by being the navigator.

The Pilot

The pilot controls the computer with the mouse or the keyboard.

The Navigator

The navigator should support the pilot with the task, but does not control the computer.

Task 1

Click the Scratch Logo to open Scratch
Click Remix in the top corner
Log into Scratch with the Username and Password that you have been given

Your username will be in the following format:

sh<1st 2 letters of first name><1st 2 letters of last name>20

For example John Smith from Year 4 would be shjosm20

Task 2

Create your own Google Doodle using code to change the look of the Google Logo.
