Important Dates

June 26 - Final Day of Exams, Last Day of School

***Full CSS events calendar is on the Calmar Secondary School website***

It is the time of year where we are doing planning for next year! A big part of that is knowing the number of students planning to attend next year. It is very helpful for you to let us know if your child will not be attending CSS next year. Please email Ms. Goldsworthy at kelly.goldsworthy@blackgold.ca with any information in this regard.

From the Nest

We are at the point of the year where pretty close to all the "things" have happened and the desks are now in the gym as students put the final touches on their academic programming for the year. Soon desks will be sitting in the hallway and our excellent custodial staff will begin the task of getting the school ready for our 2024/2025 school year.

Before that, we celebrated National Indigenous Day by taking a trip with students to Bunchbery Meadows, making bannock, and playing some Indigenous games outside. We were lucky to have beautiful weather on this longest daylight day.

From my perspective, like a de facto parent, I have watched our grade twelves finish their last exams and head into the greater world. In the fall, instead of returning to school, they will be forging a new path. I hope that the time they spent in the school helps them along the way and that they come back to visit from time to time!

When we return in the fall, we will have a new crop of grade twelves and everyone will be able to begin anew! We will be having a meet the teacher on August 26th! So mark your calendar as we look forward to seeing you all then! In the meantime get outside and enjoy the sun!

Respectfully,

Justin Klaassen

The Collegiate Forges ahead!

Last week we had the good fortune to visit Olds College where several school divisions have come together to create a collegiate focused on skilled trades! The opportunities created for students in this realm have been significant and we are looking forward to the opportunities our Collegiate will bring! At this point, the groundbreaking is set for the end of August! Stay tuned for more information!

Calmar wins gold at the National Skills Competition!

Huge shout out to Adam Peterson for winning the gold at the National Skills Competition in Quebec City, on May 30 & 31.  Adam was the underdog by a significant margin by being 3 to 4 years younger than the other provinces' competitors but came out on top with a huge win.   Adam qualified for the National competition by placing first at the Provincial Skills Competition on May 8 & 9th.

Shout out to our School Council and Fundraising Society Parents!!!

We are so very lucky at Calmar Secondary School to have such a dedicated group of school volunteers that work tirelessly to support the efforts of the school! We would like to take a moment to thank all the parents who have taken the time over the course of the year to support the school and in particular our School Council/Fundraising Committee Members! This year, amongst other things the Fundraising Society supported us in purchasing cameras for the yearbook club, a poster printer to be used within the school and 3D printers for our upcoming option class!
