Greetings Hawks,

Yesterday morning I was off to Marmot Basin with a group of Calmar Secondary kids! Thursday night as I pulled together my equipment and tracked down some snacks to bring along I thought about how much I enjoy the opportunity to connect with students outside of the classroom. 

Being in education is so much more than the time we spend in the classroom, just like our students are so much more than who they are in the classroom. This relates nicely to the collegiate model of education that we will be embarking on in the coming years. Collegiate schools are called upon to help students explore career pathways, partner with outside agencies to support post secondary accreditation, and promote experiential learning.

This week I met with other Collegiates from across the province to talk Collegiates and while I have trepidation about the road ahead the possibilities are just too great to not be excited! We will be launching a Collegiate section of the website in the coming weeks, so keep an eye out!

In the meantime, enjoy spring break! The days are lengthening and I can already feel days of mountain biking coming, but for now, I am going to enjoy the present of the snowy mountains.
