We are a team from two very different countries. To share our cultures, we traded books. We read each other's favourite stories written by authors of our respective countries.

The different ways that reading can bring different people from different countries together is by the different books that can inform people about their respective countries. Another way that reading can bring people together is through two books that can have the same message but showcased in different ways which can cause people to make a stand for something right.
After Reading the book 'Wonder' , I learnt a lot. I was inspired by August who had some facial abnormality ( known as Treacher Collins Syndrome ). Due to this disease, people called him names, one was 'Monster'. He also had many surgeries when he was young. He didn't attend any regular school till fourth grade. With time, he made friends. One of his friends was Jack Will, who used to tease him with the name 'Freak '. They were friends at one point of time, but their friendship broke at some time. They ignored each other. But soon after some time they started thinking about each other. One of my favourite characters from the story is Jack Will, Although Auggie had bad looks, Jack was kind towards him. He started loving him. One of the children of Beecher Prep School, Juvillian who was good at Science, Jack wanted to pair up with her in the science exhibition; but he paired with August, showing his love towards him. This made an unbreakable friendship between both of them. Jack Will made a friend who was indeed a companion for him to show love towards him. The lesson which I get from the story is that we should never judge any person by his physical appearance. 'Never judge a book by its cover.'

During the Skype session, it was discussed that we are going to read a book suggested by the partner school. So we suggested the author, Nobel Laureate, Rabindranath Tagore to them and they suggested the book 'Wonder' by R. J Palacio. So, here are some reviews about the same.
The phrase 'Where there is a will, there is a way' tells mostly everything about the story . The author has written this fictional story on a boy named August Pullman, aged 10 years, who had a disfigured face but he didn't lose hope and stayed happy . Due to his look he was always bullied, and this was the reason he was home schooled till grade fifth . After that his parents thought of his future and started sending him to regular school . Beecher Prep was a pretty cool school and his teacher Mr Tushman was very encouraging , helpful and supportive towards Auggie(August) . Auggie thought he had made three good friends on the very first day : Jack (who was a true friend ) , Charlotte (who was polite and helpful ) and Jullian(who was selfish and a flatterer) . After a few periods, he realised that only Jack was his true friend . Jack supported Auggie and stayed with him throughout to support him. This is the reason why my favourite character is Jack . Another girl, Summer, did not judge Auggie by his face but personality and stayed with him since the beginning, even when Jack wasn't there . Auggie was very happy about these facts but as the name of the book 'Wonder' suggests, Auggie always wondered why other children didn't behave with him normally. Gradually Auggie, along with his two friends, managed to change the thought of other people and made them accept the way he was . It was a great ending for Auggie. This story also provides a great message of accepting everybody the way they are. This book is really worth and fun to read .

'Wonder' is the primary book I’ve certainly shed a tear over. It’s so humorous how nowadays human beings fail to acknowledge disfigured faces as human. I felt so angry and guilty after studying this e-book, each terrible feeling. But personally, that is my favorite e book that I’ve come upon.
August ‘Auggie’ Pullman is a ten-old boy similar to many different boys of his age, except that he changed into born with facial disfigurements.
People are frightfully afraid of him which makes them bully him. And it’s authentic, that when we people are scared, we do things that are so disgusting we cannot accept as true with that it’s clearly US doing it.
August starts off evolved college and makes adorable friends, but additionally enemies who hate him. This story is ready love, betrayal, friendship and a phrase that we've got all heard before: Don’t judge a book via its cover. This story absolutely touched me. I , in reality cherished it.
August’s dad and mom additionally made me cry. When you supply delivery to a baby that’s no longer precisely like others, it's miles sincerely heart breaking, however soon sufficient August’s family love him to bits and take delivery of him for the way he is. However, I every so often discovered that August felt his dad and mom and sister had been being over–protecting and that he desired to be dealt with like a regular 10 12 months antique.
This story had a few events that were truly provoking. I adore it just the manner it's miles even though. My favoured character is August, however I also cherished Summer, who right away became buddies with August, now not best due to pity and sympathy however because she saw him otherwise – as a normal kid.

'Wonder' is a novel which is a sheer example of will power and determination. Due to his facial deformity, August faces a lot of criticism when he attends school for the first time after being home- schooled for almost his entire life. He struggles to make friends but the ones that do accept his friendship are there by his side throughout the story. This novel is named WONDER because lives of many people are depicted through the story. Out of all of them, Auggie is the one who is able to sail through the year happily and successfully. The message conveyed is 'Where there's a will, there's a way.' R.J. Palacio has made sure that this message is conveyed to her readers through her book.

It's said that 'You can't blend in where you are born to stand out', which is perfect for a hesitant and a very apprehensive person to make him feel confident. It helps him stand for himself and this is what the book 'Wonder' by R.J.Palacio is all about. People usually judge a person by his facial or physical appearance but always forget that it's just an outer covering of a particular entity that obviously makes each one of us a distinct creature. In this book, we get to know that August Pullman( Auggie) was born with a craniofacial abnormality that was so radical that his face really scared the people he met. Auggie is the one who is stared at, whispered about, avoided, bullied and excluded but despite these challenges, his story is definitely a story of hope. This book can bring readers of all ages to tears and laughter. It teaches us to handle difficult situation with greater clarity and maturity.

I can’t think of words that would do justice to this book. It’s such a mind blowing novel that conveys a simple but powerful message. Once you start reading it, you will be blown away and get carried away in the emotions, wave after wave, page after page. So, this is a story of a wonder kid, August Pullman . He was born with a facial abnormality . So, by reading this book, we can find out how Auggie rides his journey of life from being the freak to eventually being accepted as 'the nicest Auggie Doll in the world'.

It was a wonderful book to read as we could associate with the beautiful plot. We learn that we should not judge people by their looks. Even the cover of the book is very amazing. Though the author is not too famous but has written a wonderful book which very well holds true in human life especially children.

'Wonder' by R.J. Palacio is a novel which sets a perfect example of will power and confidence. It deals with the aspects which make a person successful by trusting himself and not listening to what other people have got to say about him or her. Here, Auggie due to his deformity, is unable to live the life of a normal child and nonetheless when he enters Beecher Prep, children don't hesitate to make him feel embarrassed of his appearance. But, as and when the school year goes on, he makes new and most importantly 'true' friends who are always there by his side. There's absolutely no doubt that 'WONDER' is the perfect title for this novel because August Pullman is indeed a wonder child as he goes through all the drama which happens to him during his first year in the school.

'Wonder' is a fictional novel by the brilliant creator, R.J. Palacio. It is about a little fellow named August Pullman. He is 10 years of age and has never gone to a regular school previously, due to his deformed face, and thus, his mom home schooled him. Auggie discovers that he is being sent off to a genuine tuition based school, Beecher Prep Upper School. Before the school begins, Auggie is welcomed by three mates; Charlotte, the foe Julian, and his prospective closest companion Jack. Generally, Wonder is a book that shows us how to face menaces and acknowledge each other for our disparities and likenesses.

I found the book 'Wonder' really heart touching. August Pullman had to undergo many surgeries. His face was different from the other kids. Due to this reason, he was home schooled by his mother for a long time. But finally his parents decided to send him to school . August was nervous but due to his parents, he joined school. Soon he made a friend named Jack Will. Jack Will is my favorite character in the book because even though August was different from the others, he was kind and loving towards him. He made his best efforts to protect August from his earlier friend's bullying. He also ensured that August doesn't feel lonely at school. Even after being suspended from school for a day for punching Juvillian as he called August a freak, he's concerned about August. Jack refused to help Juvillian in the science exhibition, who was known to be good at science and rather paired up with August. They also won the exhibition. August and Jack Will found a true companion in each other. Their friendship made me realise the worth of a good friend.

Rabindranath Tagore wrote the story 'The Post Office'. After reading 'The Post Office' ,I got to know what kind of things that Rabindranath likes to make. The story was about a little boy who was dying, and he wasn't allowed to go outside because that would make him ever more sick. Overall, I thought that the story 'The Post Office' was an amazing story and it was really good.

The short story 'The Homecoming' by Rabindranath Tagore shows you the importance of a home. In the story, Phatik is a troubled child who wants a loving home. He ends up going to live with his uncle and their family. His aunt doesn’t seem to like him and treats him poorly. Phatik seems to be feeling even more unwelcome in his uncle’s home than his own. By the end of the story, he ends up trying to go home and gets sick. The story to me showed lots of emotions and I agree that it is a very good book. Tagore’s books appeal to everyone who reads it and not just specific age groups. “The Homecoming” to me teaches me a lesson to always be grateful for all the things I have.

Rabindranath Tagore is one the influential poets of all time. Tagore has written many poems about different moral values. The general audiences of Tagore's work is similar to our age in that it's meant for kids transitioning into more professional and mature adults. Our class has taken a lot of notes about Tagore's work and how we can become better as human beings. One of Tagore's most well known short stories is 'The Homecoming'. The story teaches us to be grateful and appreciate what we already have. It shows us the hardships that we will have to overcome in life. It teaches us not to resort to violence in times of hardship. Overall, Tagore's inspiring work helps us to be better as people and work for society.

Reading books has majorly affected the improvement of society. It has formed civilisations, changed political frameworks and uncovered treachery. Books give us a nitty gritty of human encounters, permitting us to associate on fundamental degrees of want and feeling. Books have the ability to bring us together, if just we set aside some time and effort to read those books that our friends and family appreciate. Reading is critical to society since it reflects social qualities and fills in as a device for showing those qualities to other people. Through writing, individuals can find out about explicit periods in history and occasions that changed the world. Books are an impression of humankind and a route for us to see one another.
Bhavya Alagh (SMSMB)
I often see reading as something that can bring people together instead of a consistent belief that reading is a way of escapism from reality and sort of locked-up-alone thing; but truly saying, may it be fiction or non-fiction, reading can actually be a way of engaging with reality. Reading might be done alone, but it never exists alone. So, how we interact with books can be an act of empathy. To know other people more and bring each other together, what one must do is ,read the favourite books of those people and know about their interests. It’s not only reading books but reading newspapers and magazines, and reading about others’ point of view on certain topics can also bring people together.

Reading a similar book unites individuals as a network by making shared conviction for conversation.
Reading additionally improves our talking through which we can communicate in various dialects .
Additionally, when we read books that are intriguing others get pulled in towards us and turn into our companions.

Through reading we can relate to characters who we think are like us. Their life and story somehow is like ours or we want to imitate that character in future. When a teacher explains and reads for the children to help and explain or the parents read out aloud the stories for their kids, all are united. Also, when an individual or specially a child is reading and finds difficulty he /she can take the parents' or teachers' help. They also get involved and find interest with the child in the book. Reading is never a solo task . It keeps the reader involved with one thing or the other.

All of us as a community have a certain thought process and when we read something showcasing the same ideas as ours, either in the newspaper or in a book, we tend to discuss about it with our fellow mates. Also, I've observed that when people read the same book, especially children, they want their friends to read it too and thus, they are able to form a group of readers who then have something to discuss. 'Goodreads', a platform for readers is one such example where authors and readers can connect and recommend each other books. Therefore, books can be a great source to connect with people.
Khushi Mishra (SMSMB)
Reading is not a task to be done alone. Whenever we read books,we read the thoughts of the author and share our thoughts with people around us who further read the book and share their ideas. Furthermore, whenever someone reads a news in the newspaper they read the views of the editor on a particular topic and all of them share their perspectives with each other, in favour or against that particular topic. This activity performed by us almost everyday binds us together.Owing to advancement in technology we spent most of our time in use of electronic devices like mobiles, television, etc.which leads to loneliness and we cheer up ourselves by reading. After reading, when we share our experiences with our family and friends,we become connected to each other.Sharing stories or books with a person, enrich our lives in ways that nobody can.

Both of our classrooms have collaborated to create a story. The team in India created the first half of the story and sent it to us. We then added our own ending to the story. This is a great example on how reading brings us together.
