A follow-up to Connor's poll on music preferences here at GPHS. Find out what kinds of music people listen to.
Favorite Genre?
Out of 17 results, the two most popular genres are pop and indie, with five responses each. Rock follows up with three votes, then Hip Hop/R&B with two. Classic Rock/Rock n' Roll and Metal seem to be more niche, with one response each.
Favourite artist?
The top two results reflect the Spotify stats, which is where I got information on the most popular artists. The Weeknd, followed by Taylor Swift, are the most popular artists in the world, and they are the most voted for in this poll. Four people voted for The Weeknd, while three voted Taylor Swift. Following that is a 4-way tie between Pink Floyd, Nirvana, Lady Gaga, and Ed Sheeran. Each has two votes: Metallica and Panic! At the Disco follow that, with one vote each.
There are a lot of varied responses that people contributed ranging from Shawn Mendes to Sublime to Insane Clown Posse. This really goes to show how varied the music taste is of GPHS students.
Lyrics vs. Rhythm?
The vast majority of responses, 14, say that they like Lyrics/Song Meaning and Rhythm/Sound of a song equally. Two responders say that they prefer rhythm, with only one responder saying that they prefer lyrics. For most people, it seems to depend on the song. A minority payd more attention to either lyrics or rhythm.
Live shows?
Most responses prefer large venues, with 11 votes. Small venues only have 3 votes.
What platform?
The vast majority of respondents listen to music on Spotify, with 13 responses. iTunes follows up with only 2 votes, and Youtube/TikTok/Other and Vinyls/CDs, with one vote each.
