This Easter weekend, Apr 8-9, 2023, there will be a special community outreach event in Grants Pass called Rise24. This event will be put on and organized by Parkway Christian Center in Grants Pass. The goal of this event is to spread hope and deepen the strength of the community by participating in outreach activities throughout all of Josephine County.
Rise24 will begin on April 8 at 10 a.m. Everyone in the church and in the entire community is welcome to participate and give back to their community. This event is targeted to benefit and reach all social groups and all demographics. There are currently 34 different outreach activities that will be taking place.
The plan for this event is to serve a different outreach group every hour for 24 hours straight. This will last until Easter morning at 10 a.m on Apr. 9, which will then be followed by the Easter church services at Parkway. Everyone is welcome to participate in one of the outreach activities or all of them.
Some of the activities include a skateboard event, an Easter egg hunt, serving first responders and medical staff, serving the Women's Crisis center, feeding the homeless, serving social workers, serving foster families and so much more. Each hour and each event is dedicated to help and reach as many people in the community as possible. According to one of the leaders and organizers for this event, Leanna Smotherman, “This event gives us the ability to look at people, all people and tell them they are worth it, they are valued and we see them.”
This is a great opportunity for everyone to get involved directly with the people within Grants Pass. According to an anonymous GPHS student participating in this event, “ I am so thrilled about this event because it will be a very fun and exciting way to spread love and hope to our community. I plan to serve all 24 hours and get involved as much as I can. I believe the effects from this event will impact us all in such a positive way that it will truly make a difference and I cannot wait to see what it brings.”
If you are passionate about benefiting your community, then it is important to get involved. If you are interested in this event and want more details you can check out the Parkway Christian Center Website or contact them through their email or their phone number. In an atmosphere where hardship is so heavy, even small acts of grace and love, can hold the most gravity, so reach out, lean in and get involved.
