Skyline AVID Program

Skyline AVID Program

For the 2022-2023 school year, Skyline is starting the AVID program for current 9th graders. AVID stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination. Through the AVID program, we hope to help students achieve academic success and be prepared to attend a 4-year university after high school. It is to offer support to help students overcome challenges and weaknesses while celebrating their strengths.

Who should be a part of AVID?

  • Students who are interested in the IB program but were nervous to join or are unsure of the program

  • Students who would like to take AP courses but are worried about the rigor

  • Pre-IB students who are concerned about the workload and need extra support

  • Any student who could benefit from extra help and support to achieve their goals of going to college

  • Any 1st generation college student who would like more help navigating the pathway to college

  • Students who are high achieving but struggle with ADHD or other challenges that get in the way of their learning

  • Students who want help on how to pay for college

If you are interested in participating in the AVID program, talk to your Freshman Success teacher or to Mr. Lott in room 146.

Students in the AVID program will be taking the AVID class that begins in 2nd semester. Students must take the class to participate in the program.
