Course Selection
Updated Instructions for ALL Students
We are experiencing issues with Focus which may not allow all students to complete their course request on the Focus portal. We are asking that ALL students, whether they were able to complete their request in Focus or not, complete and turn in a paper worksheet with their course selections. Please follow the instructions below:
With your parents, use the Course Selection Card to finalize the classes you want to take next year.
Write your selections (course names and numbers) on the Worksheet. Be sure to include your name and student ID number. Additional worksheets and course cards can be picked up in the Counseling Center of your school or use the links above.
Turn your completed Worksheet into the Counseling Center at your school by Friday, February 2. You may keep the course card at home.
Skyline counselors will then complete your request in Focus.

How to Request Classes in Focus
Log into the Student Portal on Focus.
Click on "Class Requests" in the left menu.
Change the year in the top right to "2024-2025". The page accents should turn red.
"Locked" classes may already be added and listed in your request. These classes cannot be changed and do not need to be added again.
Use your course card to find the 6-digit course numbers for the classes you want to request.
Find the text box below the word "Course".
In the text box, type in one of the course numbers and hit "Enter". The class will be added to your request and show below the text box.
Continue to type in the course numbers for the remainder of your classing, hitting "enter" after each one. Check to make sure that each class gets added to your request.
After typing in all of your courses, it should show "8.0 credits" near the top (students requesting Seminary will only show 7.00 credits). If the number of credits is not adding correctly, double-check that you have entered all of your classes. You can also try refreshing the webpage. If the number of credits is still not correct, do not worry! It may just be a Focus issue.
Reminder, you are not able to request GTI classes in Focus. You will need to request an alternate class for now and the GTI class will be added once the completed GTI application is submitted. Please indicate on your GTI application which classes you need dropped.
