"I'm falling behind! What should I do???"
Talk to your TEACHER. Only your teacher can tell you how to fix your grade and improve your understanding. They want you to succeed! If you are struggling, let them know what's going on. Find them before or after class/school and find a fix together. Good communication is a precious and developing skill. You can do it!
Get additional help. Utilize the Skyline peer tutoring options or talk to your parents about other tutoring possibilities.
Remove distractions. Turn off your phone or the television. Study in a quiet location. If studying at home isn't working, stay after school, study with a good friend, or go to the public library. Find your rhythm and do work somewhere that you can focus and feel good. It may help to let a parent borrow your phone so that your mind is free and present.
Consider reducing your load. Some students cannot achieve their academic goals when they take on too many extra-curriculars or when they have a job during the school year. Also, it is possible the subject you are taking is too hard for you. Talk to your teacher first about that possibility and determine what level is right for you.
Meet with your counselor. Whatever your circumstance is, you are not alone. Your counselor is happy to help you manage your stress, weigh the options, make decisions, and find help. Everyone needs assistance at some point!
