How to Prepare for College Applications
Here are some things you can do now to improve your college applications.
Take rigorous classes (Honors, AP, IB, CE)
Consider taking 4th year science or math classes
Enroll in courses at the GTI or courses that focus on a career path
Find ways to volunteer in and serve your community
Get involved in extra-curricular activities
Seek out leadership opportunities
Gain work experience through employment or internships
Learn special skills to earn certifications
Prepare a list of any recognition or awards you have received
Research College Options
Ask Some Questions
Do you want to attend an in-state or out-of-state school?
Do you want to be on a large or small campus?
Do you want to attend a public or private institution?
Where can you see yourself? In the mountains, a big city, or the beach?
What are you and your family able to afford and how are you going to pay for school?
Is there a school that has a great program for the major/career you would like to pursue?
Gather Information
Explore college websites for admission policies, scholarships, degree programs, and other information.
Go on a campus tour to get a feel for the campus, the school, and their programs.

High School Transcript
Request your transcript at www.parchment.com.
If your college uses CommonApp, your counselor will upload a copy of your transcript directly in the app. Be sure to list your counselor's email address correctly so that they receive the request.
Letters of Recommendation
If you require a letter of recommendation, please fill out a letter of recommendation form to give to your recommenders. Be sure to give your recommenders at least 2 weeks prior to the deadline to write the letter.
If the application is on the CommonApp, the letter of recommendation will be uploaded to the app.
Note: The University of Utah does not require a letter of recommendation for their admissions application.
Test Scores
Skyline does not have access to official test scores. If you need an official score report, please request the report directly from the testing entity.
College Transcripts
If you have earned college credit through concurrent enrollment classes, request a copy of your transcript from each school that you have earned credit. Your high school transcript does not include any college credits.
