DIGITAL LITERACY (706571)

Length:  Semester  Required for:  7th Grade

Students will learn about the ins and outs of a computer and various parts of the Microsoft Software suite.  This will prepare students for success in 8th grade and the Business Office Specialist course in 9th grade.  Fun activities are Build a Computer, Excel Ultimate Vacation, and Make a Game in PowerPoint.

CAREER AND COLLEGE AWARENESS (706501)

Length:  Year  Required for:  8th Grade

The CCA course is designed to increase awareness of college and career pathways through simulations and project-based experiences.  The College and Career Awareness course explores high school, college, and career options based on individual student interests, abilities, and skills.  Students will investigate high-skill and/or in-demand jobs in the Utah labor market while developing workplace skills.

FACS Exploration 7 (706701)

Length:  Semester  Available for:  7th Grade

This class introduces students to career and life literacy skills in all areas of Family and Consumer Sciences.  Students will learn about nutrition and food preparation, family life, childcare, interpersonal relationships, housing and interior design, sewing, fashion, consumerism, and career exploration.

This course is for creating school announcements – filming, editing film, and editing sound.  Requires extra work, self-motivation, on task behavior, and positive hardworking attitude.

FACS B – FOODS/CHILD CARE (706721)

Length:  Semester  Available for: 8th Grade

FCS B focuses on personal responsibility, childcare, and foods.  Students will create a preschool, learn how to cook various types of foods, and participate in a Food Truck project.

EXPLORING BUSINESS AND MARKETING (706601)

Length:  Semester  Available for:  8th Grade

Students will explore the basics of Economics, Business structure and Marketing in the modern age.  This class is the perfect way to get ready for high school level business classes.  POPULAR PROJECTS:  Entrepreneur Simulation and Marketing Your Business presentation.

EXPLORING TECHNOLOGY 1 (706801)

Length:  Semester  Available for:  7th & 8th Grade

This class is a hands-on project-based course that focuses on the technology around us and how it affects our everyday life.  We will be learning about different types of technology, the engineering design process, safety, and a number of different skills such as craftsmanship, problem solving, and planning.  We will build a lot of fun projects such as catapults, co2 rocket cars, peg board games, and other fun shop-based projects!

EXPLORING TECHNOLOGY 2 (706811)

Length:  Semester  Available for:  8th Grade

This class is a hands-on project-based course that focuses on the technology around us and how it affects our everyday life.  We will be learning about different types of technology, the engineering design process, safety, and a number of different skills such as craftsmanship, problem solving, and planning.  This class is a continuation of Exploring Tech 1, and we will build a number of fun projects such as air skimmers, wood helicopters, laser cut toys, keepsake boxes, and other fun projects!

ROBOTICS

Length:  Semester  Available for:  8th Grade

An introduction to building and programming robots.  We will learn about the history of robotics, the applications of simple machines, binary, coding robots, and problem solving.
