While Cyprus High School staff will focus on teaching and modeling appropriate behaviors at Cyprus High School, there are policies and procedures dealing with school discipline that parents and students need to be aware of. Teachers here at Cyprus will follow the following flowchart for classroom behaivors:
Granite School District students and employees are entitled to a learning/working environment which is free from unlawful and violent acts. Cyprus High School will not tolerate acts of violence, use or possession of weapons, criminal behavior, or harmful gang activity in schools, on school property, or at or around school activities. Students whose actions pose a threat to the health and/or safety of a student or staff member shall be suspended from school or suspended to a district level hearing.
Fighting: (Including, Causing Injury to Others, Filming Fights, Encouraging Altercations, Threats of violence)
Possession of Weapons, Explosives, or Dangerous Devices
Participation in Vandalism, Destruction of Property, or Theft
Use / Possession / Distribution of Drugs, Alcohol, Vaping Devices or Other Illegal Substances
Sexual Harassment, Accessing Pornography
Directed Profanity at Others
Fighting will result in up to 3 days school suspension.
Students may be referred to safe school for a district review of student placement.
Students will be fined a $50 fighting fine.
Students found filming and/or encouraging a fight are also subject to school suspension.
Students found guilty of assault (non mutual altercations) will also result in police charges and a referral to Safe School.
