Hall Passes
HALL PASS POLICY:
In order to promote attendance accountability for all students, Cyprus has adopted the following hall pass policy:
Teachers and other offices will issue school hall pass lanyard / or note for students needing a hall pass.
Because students have longer than normal transition times, students are encouraged to use restroom and take care of other needs during this time. Therefore, teachers will only issue a hall pass for circumstances that require them.
Students are required to wear the hall pass around their neck and should be visible to school staff.
Student using the restroom or getting a drink, should go to the nearest restroom or drinking fountain. Hall passes are color coded to show what area they belong to.
Hall passes will not be issued during lunches or intervention time.
Hall passes will not be issued during the first or last fifteen minutes of class.
As a general expectation, students hall pass use should not exceed 5 minutes.
When a student is being checked out, going to the office / counseling center, and not going to be able to return to the classroom, students will be given a paper note with date, time, and teacher signature.
Students with other accommodations to leave class early will have special lanyards. I.e. GTI passes, early release passes, street passes, and chill passes.
Excessive hall pass use or abuse of privileges may result in loss of hall pass privileges.
Students that are tardy to class should not be issued a hall pass.
As a general recommendation, a student should not be issued more that 2 hall passes per class per quarter.
