CLONE YOURSELF ASSIGNMENT
You are tasked with creating an interesting series of self portraits. You will choose one interesting location and take at least 4 pictures (more is better) of yourself in various poses. Afterwards you will combine them together using photoshop making clones of yourself!
1. You will need to take photos of yourself or another person at least 4 times in the same scene.
2. Choose an interesting location and explore how you want to compose the shot (rules of composition, camera angles, wide shot, etc.)
3. Take some test shots at the location of the shoot/scene so you can adjust your settings to get a good exposure and to get the effects you want (freezing action needs faster shutter speeds, for example).
4. You will then stack the photos together and use a layer mask to reveal your clones in the different spots of the scene in Adobe Photoshop.
5. Finally after the scene is completed with the clones, you will flatten the layers and enhance the whole scene with adjustments such as brightness, contrast, saturation, etc.
When done, you will “Export As…” and save as a JPEG and submit to Google Classroom
*TIPS *
Remember to plan out where the subject (you) will stand and what you will be doing. You may want to practice this before taking the photos. *USE THE CAMERAS SELF TIMER!!
A tripod is REQUIRED to keep the shots the same.
The tripod cannot be moved after you’ve taken the first photo, or you need to start over. Even a slight bump can mess up the shots.
Make sure the subject (you) stands and interacts in various places within the scene.
Overlapping the subject will make the Photoshop editing steps a little more challenging. A challenge is a good thing!
If you took your photos precisely without moving the shot at all and the editing part will be super easy!
FABULOUS FAKES
For this project you will try to duplicate an existing photograph. The original image and your image will be printed and compared. The 2 photos, along with a Self Portrait, will be displayed and mounted
Find a photograph that you would like to reproduce. This can be ANYTHING that you feel you could recreate with the materials, people, tech that you have available.
You MUST be able to identify the Photographer of the Original
Gather your materials, set up as required and attempt to accurately recreate the original Photo. Use digital manipulation as required.
PRODUCT PHOTOS / STILL LIFE
Your goal is to take 5 photos of 1 item (or arrangement of items). Each photo needs to show different elements of the product. 1 photo might show the entire product, while the other 4 will show different angles or details of the product. Also, change the lights and experiment to see how moving the lights will shape the product differently or highlight different parts of the product.
Preparation & Research
Know your Subject
Consider the background, lighting and floor
Find “professional” product shots of the item - note the Mood & Theme portrayed. Will yours be similar or different?
Process
Create a Mood Board / Google Slides: 7-10 photos that you will use for inspiration
A Product / object / group of objects
Consider your item carefully - Shiny objects / transparent objects might pose unique challenges.
Lights - Different products, different light set-ups consider how you will light your product.
Base & Background - Your floor and background should be invisible (ie - total white or total black/colour. How will you complete this? What materials can you use?
FLOATING FRUIT
For this assignment you will need to use your Photoshop skills and create a magical still life using fruit, veggies or food and make them look as though they are floating. You must take all your own original photos using your cellphone or a DSLR.
Find an interesting base and background (unless you are removing everything, this is an important detail to elevate your project. Think about lighting, composition and details that will really set your image apart from others!
