TCJ3/4E Construction Technology
This course equips students with the technical knowledge and hands-on skills necessary for residential construction, covering key areas such as carpentry, masonry, electrical systems, heating and cooling, and plumbing. Through practical experience with various materials, tools, and equipment, students will design, lay out, and build projects, gaining proficiency in creating and reading technical drawings, understanding construction terminology, and interpreting building codes and regulations. The course also emphasizes the application of mathematical skills in construction projects, while fostering awareness of environmental and societal issues related to construction technology. Additionally, students will apply their learning to build replica systems found in residential homes, including wiring circuits, plumbing, interior finishes, roof trusses, decks, and garden sheds, all in compliance with the Ontario Building Codes. This course is ideal for those interested in understanding the intricacies of residential construction or pursuing a career or apprenticeship in the Building Construction industry.
