Good Food Eating PPT/Videos
As a part of a Nutritional Advisory Council, we need to be aware of what is "good" food and what is "bad" food. As you can tell, we're trying not to say the "H"- word as to many that means tasteless or unappetizing. Today, we are taking a look at what makes food "bad" and ultimately it comes down to how much they are processed - how much they are squeezed, pulled, freezed, mixed with chemicals, sugared, etc. We also took a look at a few videos about how some processed foods, like hot dogs, are exactly made - warning: it's gross.
We have an opportunity to submit meal ideas to Dr. Tonya McGill during the bidding process for the Newark Board of Educations school meals - this would mean that if we submit our ideas as soon as possible, we have the possibility that she will look over and try to incorporate our school meal ideas for the upcoming school year. Share your ideas by typing up your answers in this document.
Let's get to know Local Leaders a bit more and how we work on Climate Action on a local level. Check out todays PPT.
Getting to Know Dr. Tonya McGill & Food Services in Newark, NJ
During our meeting, we entered into the behind the scenes world of Food services in Newark, NJ and got to know our Food Services MVP, Dr. Tonya McGill a bit better. If you have not had a chance, take a look through the Powerpoint. What questions do you have for Dr. McGill? What can we ask her, that would help us make our school meals better?
