As we wrap up for the end of the school year, let's talk about last minute items we would like to accomplish.
Today, we will also begin our food desert video identify & present activity. All the information you need may be found on slides 10-12.
Since many of us are going to be graduating and attending college in a a year or so, let's take a look at our college of interest and see if they have any programs that relate to Sustainability, Environmental Justice, or Climate Action.

We are hosting a litterati competition - whoever wins will receive $20 giftcard - check out todays meeting agenda for more details.
On a less fun note: Let's talk about microwave safety, since we were awared two brand new microwaves to provide our students access to warm home cooked meals.
If we are going to be on a Nutritional Advisory Council, we need to know the difference between "good" food and "bad" food. Mainly, what is comes down to is how much a food is processed - can you tell what that food used to be or is it something completely different, loaded with sugar, and has added chemicals? If not, you may want to rethink your decision. Check out todays agenda to learn why.
A rare opportunity: Newark is accepting application to obtain a grant to help with food insecurity, food access, and food desert education. This exactly the kind of work we wanted to do in the beginning and now we could get the funding to do so - check out todays agenda to see the few project ideas of what could be possible if we get this grant.

Last Week Re-cap:
After meeting with Dr. McGill, she told us to do a few things:

Create a list of meals we would like to see for both breakfast and lunch
Communicate to her our needs - what needs changing and what needs improvement
Today we are going to be working on writing down exactly what we want our school meals to include before the February Bidding Process is over.
