This is actually a combination of two units (Cell structures and Cell movement) with the cells that work inside of us and how they function. We will discuss the organelles in each one and what they do as well as the basic processes that help it work from day to day. The major goals for the unit are as follows:
1. What are the basic cell organelles and what do they do.
2. How are prokaryotic cells and eukaryotic cells different?
3. How are plant and animal cells different?
4. Be able to use a microscope to identify parts of a cell.
5. Compare osmosis, diffusion, and active transport.
6. Perform and analyze activities that demonstrate these processes.
