The end of the school year offers an opportunity for celebration, closure, and rejuvenation before we start all over again in August. And if there is one thing I’ve learned this year, the motto at Global Jaya is “work hard, play hard.” Our students and faculty have demonstrated throughout the entire year that they are fully committed to academic success while also enjoying the enriching aspects of being part of a caring and welcoming community. This week held true to form as we engaged in friendly competition during sports day, took part in a cultural exchange with the Jakarta Japanese School, celebrated learning through the Global Jaya Awards, witnessed achievement and progress through the Year 12 Graduation, and enjoyed community through Hawks’ Fest. Overall, it has been a wonderful week and a reminder of the strength of our GJS community.
Below are a few updates for you as we depart for the summer holiday.
Final reports will be published at 12:00 on June 14, which we hope will be cause for more celebration.
When the new school year begins, we will celebrate our students’ academic achievements for the 2023-2024 school year in our whole school academic awards assembly.
To help our students stay academically engaged, we have prepared a summer reading list. Everyone is encouraged to review the list and explore the year level appropriate learning options, which we hope will help our students avoid the “summer slide.”
In case you have not reviewed the academic calendar for 2024-2025, here is a link to the calendar and a reminder that our first day of school is August 5, 2024. I look forward to welcoming everyone back to school!
On behalf of the entire Secondary Team, I wish you all a happy, restful and healthy end of year holiday. More importantly, I’m looking forward to the next academic year when I take over for Pak Cory as the Head of School, and we welcome Ibu Nelsy as the next Secondary Principal. Finally, to our good friend, Pak Cory, all the best with your next adventure in Turkey.
On behalf of the Global Jaya community, we wish our class of 2024 all the best with their future endeavors. It has been a real privilege to support this group of young men and women, and we know that they will achieve great accomplishments in the future.
Congratulations to our year 10 students for receiving the bronze award at the INASEC competition for innovation and entrepreneurship in science using technology.
