Every year, the Student Support Services department in the Secondary School holds the Year 6 to Year 7 Transition Days in collaboration with the Middle Years Programme (MYP) Coordinator. This year, even though we are still doing online learning, we still tried our best to provide the same great experience for the Year 6 students. On Thursday and Friday, June 11 & 12 approximately 64 students from the Primary School of Global Jaya and 8 incoming students from outside Global Jaya participated in the programme.
The event started with an online Year Level Meeting opened by Pak Steve and Pak Andy. Afterwards, students received information regarding life in the Secondary School from Ibu Reni and Michael, two of our Secondary School counselors, followed by an explanation regarding the MYP & SA (Service as Actions) from Ibu Dani and Ibu Ayu. Students were asked to do some quizzes at the end in the hopes of winning House Points.
After break time, students were allocated to their respective classes. They attended Maths, Science, Individuals and Societies, English, Bahasa Indonesia, Modern Foreign Language (MFL) and Arts classes. Based on the survey we collected from the students, approximately 70% of the students felt satisfied with the programme and thought they learned a lot from the experience. Some of the comments included the fact that they realized there are many similarities in the knowledge and skills from the PYP that they can transfer to the MYP.
On behalf of the committee members of the Transition Days programme, we would like to thank all the students and teachers who are involved in the programme for their enthusiasm and active participation. Appreciation also goes to the parents at home who also helped their child when technical error and/or connection problems happened. We would not have done it well without all the help.
We wish you a well-deserved end of year holiday and will see you next year.
