The Global Jaya School Parent Association has had a remarkable run during the holy month of Ramadhan this year. Starting it off with a spirit of togetherness and generosity, the community came alive through a series of meaningful events that brought students, staff and parents closer than ever.
Pesantren Ramadan 2026: From Spiritual Reflection to Social Action
In the spirit of Ramadan, the Global Jaya School community once again came together for Pesantren Ramadan 2026, embracing this year’s theme: “Mindful Ramadan: From Spiritual Reflection to Social Action.” Held on 7 March 2026, the program was a meaningful blend of worship, learning, and community service, reflecting the school’s commitment to nurturing both faith and compassion.
This special initiative was organized and supported by the Global Jaya School Parent Association (PA), whose dedication and collaboration played a vital role in bringing the entire program to life.
The event was thoughtfully designed for different age groups. Group A (Kindy to Year 2) participated from 08:00 to 13:00, while Groups B and C (Year 3 to Year 12) continued their journey until 20:30. In collaboration with Alif-Iqra for younger students and iWise for older students, the program engaged a total of 156 students (48 in Group A, 57 in Group B, and 51 in Group C).
Across all groups, the day was anchored in shared spiritual practices. Students performed Dhuha prayer, engaged in doa and Quran recitation, and continued with Dhuhur, Ashar, Maghrib, Isha, and Tarawih prayers together. The day concluded with a warm iftar gathering, strengthening bonds within the school community.
A key highlight was the donation of 11 sembako packages contributed by GJS parents through the GJS Give Back Program, reinforcing the importance of empathy and generosity during Ramadan; an initiative also driven by the PA’s strong commitment to community outreach.
For Group A, learning was delivered through creative and interactive activities. Students explored faith through storytelling sessions like “Does Allah Really Loves Us?”, participated in eco-printing crafts, and enjoyed Hijaiyah phonics through songs. Games, worksheets, and hands-on activities ensured that learning remained joyful and age-appropriate.
Meanwhile, Groups B and C engaged in deeper reflections and dynamic learning experiences. Activities included sessions on purification, shalat, and Quran recitation, as well as interactive programs such as Islamic Clash of Champions and Guess the Adab. Students also embarked on a creative “time travel” journey to the Golden Age of Islam, exploring the lives of great scholars. Through Quranic storytelling, journaling, and digital content creation, they connected spiritual values with modern expression, while sessions like Discover Your Role, Discover Your Strengthencouraged personal growth.
Recognizing the vital role of families, the program also included special sessions for parents; another initiative supported by the PA. In the morning, Ustad Asep Anwar led a parenting halaqah on cultivating strong worship habits at home. Later in the day, fathers attended a masterclass by Drs. Adrianto Rusfi, focusing on how to become present, caring, and inspiring fathers. These sessions reinforced the shared responsibility of nurturing values beyond the classroom.
The spirit of giving extended beyond the event day. Students were encouraged to contribute items for a Charity Bazaar held on 11 March 2026, organized by Year 7–12 students with support from the school and PA. This initiative provided valuable SA/CAS learning opportunities, as students managed the entire process from sorting and pricing items to selling them within the school community.
The bazaar successfully raised IDR 4,224,500, which was donated to an orphanage during the GJS Eid Celebration on 16 April 2026.
GJS Gives Back 2026: A Community Effort
The broader GJS Give Back 2026 initiative, strongly supported by the Parent Association, demonstrated remarkable generosity from the school community. A total of IDR 153,000,000 was collected, along with 292 sembako packages distributed to those in need.
These contributions supported:
THR (holiday incentives) for 90 support staff, including security, cleaners, gardeners, and other essential personnel.
Sembako packages for the surrounding community, each valued at IDR 130,000, containing daily necessities such as rice, sugar, cooking oil, tea, and soy sauce.
Distributions took place across several occasions, including during Pesantren Ramadan, community outreach on 13 March 2026, and the Eid celebration.
Pesantren Ramadan 2026 was more than just a school event, it was a powerful reminder that Ramadan is not only about personal reflection, but also about taking action to uplift others. Through worship, learning, and service which was made possible through the collaboration between the school and the Global Jaya School Parent Association (PA) students experienced firsthand how small acts of kindness can create meaningful impact.
As the GJS community continues to grow, initiatives like this reflect a shared vision: nurturing individuals who are not only academically capable, but also spiritually grounded and socially responsible.
