Rachel Taylor

Flanker Rachel Taylor has been synonymous with Wales Women's rugby. Her rugby journey began at five years old with Colwyn Bay Rugby Football Club, and she went on to play in both the Welsh and English Premierships.

Since her first cap in 2007 she has featured in numerous Six Nations competitions and captained Wales at 5 of them. Rachel also played for the Wales 7's rugby team and played in 3 World Cups. Rachel is the only player in Wales who has played for every regional side and captained both sevens and 15s' International sides.

In 2017 Rachel announced her international retirement and has since made a significant impact coaching. Rachel is currently the Head Coach for Colwyn Bay Men’s team, the first female WRU Regional Academy Skills Coach and also the Barbarians Women's Team Coach.

Rachel has worked tirelessly to support and grow women's rugby in North Wales and describes RGC Women's entry into this year's Regional championship as being a career high. Now working for the Welsh Rugby Union as a RGC Regional Academy Skills Coach she hopes to continue the development of rugby in North Wales.

Rachel has given some insight as to what approaches she takes to be motivated.

"I think there's massive benefits to the effects of sport. I think it is really difficult sometimes, especially during your period to get that motivation to get up and get off the sofa and do something. Obviously there is the self-conscious effect as well, but I think if you can just do a little bit and get the benefit of it and get the endorphins going, you'll feel so much better after it."
